FuelFinder Intelligence

What Ireland is paying for fuel, and how sure we are

Built only from prices drivers reported in the last 14 days, each checked for age, independent confirmation and how it compares with nearby stations. Where we do not have enough reports, we say so instead of guessing.

Unusual prices waiting for a second report

These were reported but sit far from nearby prices, look like diesel and petrol entered the wrong way round, or were reported as wrong. They are kept, not deleted — one more driver at the pump settles each one.

How much of Ireland we can see

42 of roughly 1,599 known forecourts have a trusted price from the last 14 days (2.6%; 4 in the last 3 days).

Per county: stations with a current price / forecourts known from OpenStreetMap. Tap a county for its detail.

Strong: 8+ stations and 15%+ of forecourts. Moderate: 3+. Thin: 1–2. Trend compares with two weeks ago and ignores a change of one station.

Where one report helps most in Louth

Ranked by how much a single report would add: stations in counties we cannot see, prices that have gone stale, and prices that need a second opinion.

How these numbers are made

  • One vote per station. Each station counts once, using its newest trusted price — ten reports from one forecourt are not ten data points.
  • Age first. Only prices from the last 14 days are used. Older ones stay on station pages as history.
  • Trust. Every report is scored on age, a matching report from a different driver, photo verification, the reporter’s track record, how far it sits from nearby prices, sudden jumps and later “wrong price” reports. The same person reporting twice does not count as confirmation.
  • Unusual is not wrong. A price far from the market is held back from rankings until a second driver or a clear photo backs it. Nothing is deleted.
  • Change over time compares the same stations in both periods, so it measures prices moving, not which stations happened to be reported.
  • Minimum samples. National figures need 8 stations, counties 3, period changes 5 paired stations. Below that we show no figure.
  • No forecasts. We do not yet have enough history to test a forecast against a simple baseline, so we do not publish one.
