Price transparency
Ireland has no public, station-by-station fuel price feed. Several EU countries — Germany, France, Spain and Austria among them — require forecourts to report prices to a public database. Here, every price on FuelFinder comes from a driver who reported it.
Retailers already set and display their prices. We are asking them to make those prices available to drivers online too — published openly, or shared with FuelFinder — so anyone can compare before they fill up.
Drivers regularly report noticeably different prices at forecourts a short distance apart. Without published prices, the only way to find out is to drive past.
Driver reports go out of date. Where nobody has reported recently, FuelFinder can only show an older price and say so. Published prices would fill those gaps.
Retailers with competitive prices gain from being seen, and drivers can plan where to fill up. It works in other countries, and it can work here.
Each button opens X with a short, polite message you can edit before posting. Nothing is sent until you choose to send it.
The message: “@retailer Irish drivers would like to compare pump prices before they pull in. Would you publish your station-level prices, or share them with FuelFinder.ie? @fuelfinderie #FuelPriceTransparency”
More drivers using FuelFinder means fresher prices for everyone, and clearer evidence that people want station-level price information.
We would like to work with you. Share your station prices with FuelFinder and they will be shown to drivers searching near your stations, clearly marked as coming from you.
